Octoberfesting Around the World

A few listeners sent us some Octoberfest questions, so we decided to do an Octoberfest themed episode. Since we recently featured Munich on a Travel Tuesday episode, we thought we’d tie these two together.

Usually, Octoberfest can last from the beginning of September through the first weekend of October, where you drink a lot of beer, maybe do some German folk-dancing in lederhosen, watch some wiener dog races and eat a lot of meat in tube form.

On This Podcast Episode:

Here are some cool fun-facts and highlights from some of the bigger Octoberfest’s around the country, as well as the lowdown on Munich itself.

My co-host for the podcast is my husband, Jeff Game, a travel, and music journalist that’s always on the hunt for a good story to tell.

Getting To Know Elvis’s Memphis

On a recent Travel Tuesday episode, we took you on a tour around Memphis, more than just Elvis and barbeque. This week we are back in Memphis to showcase two new additions to the Elvis empire and also explore the many other sides of music that Memphis has to offer.

Last fall the Guest House at Graceland opened their doors, making this the first diamond resort to open in Memphis in more than a hundred years. This 450-luxury room resort hotel is stunningly designed, with a lot of cool features that we’ll check out.

On This Podcast Episode:

Earlier this year, Elvis’ Graceland got a much-needed $45 million-dollar facelift when they debuted Elvis’ Memphis Complex, which is now part of the already popular tour. This 200,000 square-foot mega complex houses more memorabilia of the King of Rock n’ Roll than before the remodel and includes new shops, restaurants and an airplane hangar-sized movie theater that shows Elvis movies all day long.

If you are a music lover, you will love getting lost in the history and present-day offerings that are scattered all around Memphis… the real “Music City!”
